I bought myself this cute little Christmas tree oil burner & some gingerbread oil during my last shopping trip yesterday. I finished my gift shopping a couple of weeks ago but I always like to go and browse the shops near to Christmas. I was a bit miffed in Sainsbury's though as some of the gifts I bought are now half price!
We had a couple of family trips out in the evening this week to eat nice food and watch these...
Enchanted.....great family movie!
And our all time favourite movie, enjoyed each year. We certainly weren't going to miss the opportunity to see on the big screen...
It's a Wonderful Life....not a dry eye in the cinema!
Today I am finishing off some bits and bobs, wrapping, baking mince pies, having my hair done and then my youngest son and I are planning on watching the movie we always watch together, Scrooge with Albert Finney. It has been his favourite since he was little and we'll be singing along to all the lovely Christmas songs!
Oh the joy of being at home for two whole weeks with the family - what bliss!
I am so glad it is Saturday, I needed a bit of extra sleep! At last I have time to do some gift wrapping. I've resisted the urge to get up early and go Christmas shopping because I really don't need to buy anything else and will only end up spending money I don't need to. Only one more week left to work and I only work a half day on the last day, Friday. Looking forward to the X Factor final tonight - Come on Ryddian (sp?)
I wanted to show you a couple of handmade purchases I've made recently
this lovely snowman bib from this shop by Pink Petal Designs - it is gorgeous and very well made. She also included a tissue holder in my parcel which was very generous (thanks Sarah!) and the parcel was wrapped in the most gorgeous red handmade paper which I am saving to use on my cards.
I also bought this bag on ebay for a few pounds. It is huge and ideal as shopping bag. The handles are big, soft and lovely to carry. It is beautifully made from Ikea fabric. What a bargain.
Well it's time for a cup of tea & some toast for breakfast - I hope to blog more often now things are winding down at bit around here so hopefully I'll be back very soon x
Betty's Tea Rooms - York
It's normally busy around here at the best of times but this week has just been HECTIC! Last night J had a party for his friends to watch the boxing that was on at 4am. I spend all Saturday afternoon cleaning and making food. This morning I got up expecting chaos but I was pleasantly surprised, they had tidyed up! Just one stray beer can, some washing up, a stray friend still sleeping on the sofa and the smell of fish curry to sort out and here I am at the computer with my cup of tea. I must admit it did feel like Christmas this morning.
I've finished my Christmas shopping woo-hoo, all the decorations are up and the house is clean. Just cards to write and wrapping to do.
The Piano in Betty's Tea Rooms - wonderful Carols were being played.
On Thursday I had my annual trip to York, Wednesday was parents evening at college and Tuesday was the staff Christmas meal out.
Betty's Shop
...I'm all excited!
We went to the caravan on Friday night and stayed until Saturday because J had to work at 6 am on Sunday morning. It was surprisingly warm for a December morning so we took a walk on the beach to survey the damage done to the coast line during the tidal surge of a couple of weeks ago. The coast at Skipsea has been eroding at an alarming rate for years but this year so much as fallen into the sea it's heart breaking.
it's bad - only 18 months ago that road was open and had a fair bit of land next to it.
I was having an advent candle this year instead of a calendar. However my candle did not arrive and I am now informed it is sold out! So I am adventless. lol.
I love these little advent stockings made by Ram in the Thicket too, if only I had some time i would make some.
Also loving Mandas and DottyCookies gorgeous advent calendars.
Marie Chantal is having a giveaway to celebrate her 100th post - so why not pop over and leave her a comment?
