Feet.

I've been up & about early this morning.  I went for a lovely long walk with the dog, posting my ebay parcels on the way and then getting soaked with rain! So much for being organized and getting the washing pegged out early.

On my to do list today

  • make a curry for tonight.  (I am trying to cut down on getting a takeaway every Saturday! So I am going to make a Special Chinese Style Curry with boiled rice.  Much healthier.
  • plan menu for the week, make a shopping list & go do the weekly shop.
  • Dig out some pretty papers from my stash to make some of Cherry's gorgeous soaps.
  • Give my poor neglected feet (I'm ashamed) a soothing footsoak, pedicure & polish.
  • List some items on ebay.

Here is my pedicure kit....do you think I have enough? LOL.  I even have a magazine to read while my nail polish dries.

Birthday time ...again!

Sorry for being MIA - I have been busy busy busy at work!  I have so much blog reading to catch up on! I will have to be a better blogger!

I've been away for a long weekend this weekend too, so I didn't have any computer time. But it was lovely and I am all refreshed.

I also celebrated my birthday and received lots of gorgeous cards and gifts, aren't I lucky! I got a new digital camera which I am now trying to learn to use properly.

I also received this lovely card along with some other treats from this thoughtful friend.

Happy Easter

Hotcrossbun

"Hot Cross Buns, Hot Cross Buns, one a penny two a penny, Hot Cross Buns"

(sorry about the weird font sizes - I can't seem to change them!)

Easter seems to have sneaked up on me this year. I know it is earlier than usual. Heck I’ve only just recovered from Christmas.  On the News last night they said it was the earliest Easter for a nearly a Century and it won’t be this early again for 220 years. Good job - lol.  I haven’t done anything I planned to do.  I wanted to make a little twig tree and hang some little decorative eggs from it.  I was going to make a box to store all the Easter things (that I haven’t even bought!) in and then we could take it out every year and decorate for Easter. We had the traditional fish for Good Friday dinner, with parsley sauce, some lovely fluffy mash and fresh cauliflower & broccoli.

I am packing my winter woollies for a few days at the caravan, I wish it was a bit more spring like though, I'm fed up of cold weather.

Have a lovely weekend whatever you are doing and don't eat too many of these....

Bonfire Night

Bonfire

I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Bonfire Night.

I wish they just allowed fireworks on the actual night because my poor little dog Homer is terrified of them. Some have just gone off and nearly shattered my windows. Homers little heart is pounding ten to the dozen.

What happened to the nice little bonfire in the garden or the park with hotdogs, mushy peas, toffee and parkin?  What was wrong with a little box of 12 fireworks with always had a catherine wheel, rocket, banger, snowstorm and traffic light? - most of which just went poof (if you were lucky). My Dad reading out the firework code to us. Making a Guy Fawkes out of an old halloween mask and my dads old clothes stuffed with newspaper. Dad then going mad with my mum because 'he was going to wear that again' hehe. Getting all wrapped up in hat, scarf and gloves and and drinking hot chocolate.  Being allowed up a late on a school night! Next day drawing a bonfire picture at school.

Those were the days.  God, did I just say that? I'm turning into my mum.  I'll be saving old margarine tubs next.

Bright Light Bright Light

Autumnfruits

I think the week of autumnal cozying up on the sofa, candles lit, casserole in oven etc, may be short lived.  New street lighting has been fitted this week in our area.  Last night they turned it on and OMG it is so bright. It is almost like daylight.  Unluckily for me there is a lamppost right outside my house and what was a mellow-yellow glow is now like bright white interrogation zone. I suppose I shouldn't really complain about it.  After all, the streets are better lit so no more walking the dog and getting a little nervous around dark corners and snickets.  It is better for driving and for older kids who are still out and about much later than 5 ish when it gets dark. 24 hour daylight almost. So I will have to just get used to it. Maybe I will just move the candles onto a table and close the curtains.

I am feeling a bit better today and am up and about.  Good job because I may have gone stir crazy if I'd been forced to watch anymore daytime TV!

I was thinking about joining NaBloMoPo but it's hardly likely that I can keep it up.  Instead I've decided to post as much as possible during November and December and hopefully that will get me into a new routine. I don't post nearly enough.  I spend too much time reading blogs and planning my posts then never actually posting them. So here I am posting two days in a row. wow.

Happy Halloween

It's a bit late, I know.  I have been off work for two days ill though so that is my excuse.  I have a high temp, sore throat, cold, headache, blah, blah.

Anyway I hope you all enjoyed your halloween.  I made cupcakes to give out with the sweets, marshmallows and jellys I bought.  I made little white ghosts to put on the top which were inspired by Ali's ghostie lollipops.

Hallobuns1

I love this Halloween card made by Taylored Expressions. (Check out the other lovely cards on her blog)

Well, I am going back to lay on the sofa and watch more daytime TV, which is enough to drive anyone back to work, eek!

Be Prepared

Brownowlsguidetolife

I am reading this book. I was a Girl Guide from the age of 11 until 15 and I adored it.  I've been thinking back to those days and how much fun I had going to the weekly meeting, doing weekend activities like holding jumbles sales, camping, rehersing for Gang Shows or working on one of my badges (Homemaker, Laundress, Writer, Child Carer, Rambler, First Aider, Thrifter, Cyclist....can you remember any others?)  I was Poppy Patrol Leader and eventually I was allowed to carry the flag in the Remembrance Sunday March.  Looking back this is one of my proudest moments as I am a very shy person and I don't know where I gained the confidence to do some of these things, I wouldn't dare now.

Guide_handbook

I did my best.

I always honered my Girl Guide promise;

I Promise that I will do my best, and do my duty to God, to serve the Queen, to help other people, and to keep the Girl Guide Law.

Guide_badge

And I was always prepared (well maybe not always!

Each chapter starts with a quote from the girl guide handbook and they are so funny and old fashioned but they do make good sense!  I will have to share some with you all when I've finished reading it.

Oh the memories!

Guide_annual

Were any of you Girl Guides or Brownies?

I think I should have stayed in the guides forever but sadly I discovered boys and things just went downhill from there.

Fool

Gooseberries_2

Just got back from eating Sunday lunch at my parents.  How nice is it to have your lunch cooked and served to you for a change?  I loved it!  Delicious food and divine dessert, my mum's gooseberry pie.  I haven't eaten gooseberry pie for years, you just don't seem to get it now.  A few weeks ago I was telling my mum how much I missed it and she kindly made one.  It was just as lovely as I remembered.

I loved this fabulous post from Cherry this week.  Go over there for a read.

And this one is very interesting too , which I found after reading Mandas post.

Enjoy your Sunday!

Washed away...

Well at last I am getting back to normal.  We have been really busy at work and I have been catching up with all my jobs etc.  It is great to have some order again.  I have even have a cleaning schedule. Doesn't mean I'll stick to it but I have one.  lol.  I even banned myself from ebay and car boot sales this week. It was worth it to get everything sorted out.  I hate being behind and bogged down with things to do.

One day i may even do some crafting.  No now I am being ridiculous.

Here are a few pictures from last week.  I am very disappointed as to how my pictures are turning out lately.  I really need a new digital camera, I have had this one for about 4 years and although it was expensive at the time, it is now really dated.  Oh well, at least I dare take it around with me now without worrying about losing it.  I will keep it in my bag and take more pictures as I am out and about.  I always regret not taking enough pictures.  I am envious when i see bloggers who post pictures taken in shops and cafes etc.  I am too shy to do this.  I need to be brave. How do you all do it?

Cliff top walking....

Skipseamay07

....until we got scared when we discovered half the cliff top had been washed out to sea! We had to walk around it, the path had completely vanished and we had to walk into a field to get further up the coast.  I wonder what is going to happen over the next few years?  Will all this have been washed away?  That is sad.
