Half Term

It is half term and I am sooooo ready for it!  Lots to do as usual but it will be nice to have some time.

Skipsea Beach

Straight from work on Friday we headed out to the caravan for a long weekend.  I would love to have stayed longer but J is working Tuesday to Friday. We have rented out the caravan on those days and then we are going back for the second weekend.  The site stays open until January so we are just going to see how tough we are in the cold weather!  Maybe after the bonfire weekend we will only go for the odd weekend up until Spring.  They weather this weekend was a little cooler but it was dry and bright and perfect for wrapping up and walking along the cliff tops and down onto the beach.

Heartbreak2

The Heartbreak Kid

Rata

Ratatouille

We saw Ratatouille & The Heartbreak Kid at the cinema too.  I loved Ratatouille and listening to the little kids giggling in the cinema warmed my heart and really made the whole day for me.  When a song came on during the movie, a group of little girls who were sitting on the front row, got up and danced.  I had forgotten how cute and adorable kids can be and boy, do they know how to enjoy themselves! I didn't really like The Heartbreak Kid all that much, it had some funny bits but i found it dull in places and my mind started to wander. I began thinking up excuses to walk out of the cinema and go shopping instead.  I did stay and see it through though.

My to do list for the days I am back at home

  • take rubbish from garage to tip
  • set up new freezer in garage
  • stock new freezer with homemade soup and casseroles etc to make things easier when i am back at work.
  • list bag of unwanted items on ebay
  • sweep yard
  • phone Grandma and have a nice long chat.
  • bath and groom dog
  • get car MOT'd
  • make some christmas cards (i am serious?!)
  • phone silly tax credit people who have messed up and assumed my 16 year old left school and didn't go to college.
  • cook something different from my recipe collection
  • sort out 'my documents' folder and arrange recipes etc

I won't do all this but I will try to cross a few things off.

For tea last night we had chilli with jacket potatos.  I have been hungry all week on this diet and had been thinking about this meal all day...I love chilli.  I am made a healthy version and also left off the sour cream (boohoo) and butter. Tonight we are having a healthly stew but I am throwing some dumplings into the family pot and they have beef in there too the lucky devils.  I just have veggies.  How exciting.  I am thinking of making a nice family dessert too but I haven't decided yet.  What shall I make?  Do I have enough willpower to resist? We shall see.

* updated to do list - didn't do it all of course but at least i managed to cross some more off it!

Oh The Pain......

Ouch, I hurt my back vaccuming at the caravan.  Will I ever learn?

Me + cylinder vac = pain!

So now I am I am walking like a cross between a 90-year-old & and a woman who is ready to give birth to quads. It's not pretty.

Oh well.  I have the whole day to myself so I am not going to let a bit of back pain stop me.  I have ebaying to do. Baking and cooking up something nice for tea.  Maybe even some crafting if I can remember what to do, it's been so long.  Too long. I really have to make some time to craft every week.

The other day I went to Hull shopping.  It's the first time I've ever been there and WOW! what a fab place to shop.  I didn't find any fabric shops though but there could be one lurking there somewhere I'm sure.  We didn't get chance to check out the museums so will have to go back again.

I've been to the Cinema twice this week too.

Transformers

First to see Transformers which isn't really my usual thing but I loved it!

Hairsprayposter750

And then Hairspray which is my thing and was brilliant!

Tasty

Seeing as it had forcast rain today, we went to Xscape, which is a indoor complex containing lots of leisure facilities icluding restaurants, cinema, shops, ski slope, climbing wall, skate park and so on.  I was brave and took some random pictures while out and about (is it just me or does anyone else feel silly when taking pictures in public?) I am trying to get over my shyness because I need pictures for my blog!

Visited the Cinema twice! Oceans 13 & Pirates of the Carribbean 'At World's End' both films very enjoyable and who could complain when they had such a feast of fellas! Orlando, Johnny, George, Matt and Brad. Yum Yum. Even tastier than the popcorn.

Oceans13

Pirates

Then ate some delicious Peri Peri chicken at

Nandos

I tried to make my own Peri Peri chicken using Nando's sauce but it just wasn't the same.  Shame.

Note to Weathermen/women - it didn't rain.  Wrong again.

Halloween Ideas

I've just spent 5 lovely days at the seaside.  Just me and J, no kids. It was so restful and relaxing. I am glad to be back though.  It makes you appreciate home/family when you have a break from them.  The weather was surprisingly good for this time of year.  Now I'm back I am planning Halloween and Bonfire night....(but secretly wanting to get on with Christmas planning! haha) These are my Halloween cupcakes from last year.

Halloween_cupcakes

I am trying to decide whether to just make the same ones again or do something different.  I will have to do some searching later today and come up with some ideas.

i just recieved my Crafter's Companion in the post!  Can't wait to read it with a cup of tea later!

I saw the new Adam Sandler movie - Click, while I was away....very funny...I love a good laugh!
