Half Term

Oh my poor neglected little blog - I really must find time to post more often.  Good job I'm having a week off work for 1/2 term and have some spare time.

We spent the first four days at the caravan and had a trip into Hull, with my parents who were visiting. We hadn't realized it was the day Hull City Football Club were celebrating their victory.  It was crowded, 200,000 people lined the streets and many gathered outside the City Hall.

ermm.....I wonder what Queen Victoria would think of it all.

We decided to avoid the crowds and had a delicious lunch here instead.

Better get back on the diet!

The weather was lovely over the weekend but changed on Tuesday when it became dull and miserable and rained heavily all day.  Luckily for us it was our last day but I can't help feeling bad for the families who are having their week's holiday in awful weather.

Travelling to the seaside today? Err ....I don't think so!

It was so tempting to run outside in my slippers and pj's and make footprints but I am too old now and thought of the cold.

Snowdrops......it's almost Spring!

Snowdrop

While we were travelling to the coast last week, I got very excited to see snowdrops.  Lots and lots of lovely little white blooms everywhere along the road side, looking all pretty and fresh.  I kept spotting some and saying ...snowdrops, more snowdrops...look lots over there.... etc, which resulted in J rolling his eyes at me and declaring it was like having a 3 year old in the car with him. I can't help it if I get giddy at the thought of Spring.  Especially this year because it is our first year of having the caravan in springtime and it has been so lovely to see the changing seasons throughout last year.  We normally only go the the beach during summer so it has been a delight to experience Autumn and Winter there (who knew it could be so fantastic?), see the surrounding trees without leaves, frost, the snow and now the clean crisp mornings when everything looks bare, waiting for new buds to appear.

It was a lovely bright, sunny and suprisingly mild day on Sunday.  After a lovely pub lunch in Bridlington, we walked along the beach.

I am back from the seaside for a few days, so just popping in for a quick post.  I am going back on Saturday morning.

I've taken lots of photo's which I will post in the coming weeks when I get back to normal ( and work - shudder!) But for now I will leave you with some pictures I took when we visited Old Penny Memories Museum in Bridlington.  If you are in the area, do visit!  It's free and so much fun.  You even get some old pennies to play the machines.

Remember any of these? I do I'm afraid...

Skipsea and Bridlington

Blog4

We bought a caravan by the sea.  At last!  We've been wanting one for a few years and have been saving up and looking for one we really liked.  We finally picked Skipsea on the Yorkshire coast as the place we wanted to be.  A lovely quiet little village with a couple of caravan parks, plenty of good walks, and enough to keep us happy.  We have looked a zillions of possible caravans.  Eventually we found just the one on Ebay of all places!  (Now they will really be callling me the ebay queen at work!) So this weekend we went to stay for the first time.  I will take some pictures when the weather is better.  I am so looking forward to relaxing there and catching up with some reading, going walking and visiting a few of the nearby pubs! It managed not to rain until today so we did manage to get onto the beach and walk a little.

Bridlington is about 10 miles away so we took a drive there to see the new Bridlington Eye

and did some shopping for the caravan.  I can't wait to get some good weather now!
