In an effort to be more productive around here, I am trying the Pomadora Technique. I spend too much time pottering around the house and way too much time sitting at my laptop. Yes, I am addicted to the internet :( The pomadora technique is basically a timer. You get blocks (called tomatoes...cute eh?) of 25 minutes to do tasks, then a break for 5 minutes and so on. After you've done 4 tomatoes, you get to take a longer break.
I know some people may think it is a bit much but this plan is really working for me. I do it for a couple of hours on my days off and some evening after work when energy is low and I need to little motivation to get me going. It is amazing how much you can get done in 25 minutes when you are focused. Sometimes I have 25 minutes doing jobs and then 25 minutes doing something I like, some 'me' time. For instance, I spent the last 25 minutes cutting the grass and starting some weeding in the garden and now I am having 25 minutes online. Sometimes I use the online timer and sometimes a notebook and pen.
Well, got to dash, my tomato is up and I have another one to start, I'll finish the weeding and fold the laundry!
